چکیده

DEFINITION: The NAS Parallel Benchmarks (NPB) are a suite of parallel computer performance benchmarks. They were originally developed at the NASA Ames Research Center in 1991 to assess high-end parallel supercomputers [?]. Although they are no longer used as widely as they once were for comparing high-end system performance, they continue to be studied and analyzed a great deal in the high-performance computing community. The acronym “NAS” originally stood for the Numerical Aeronautical Simulation Program at NASA Ames. The name of this organization was subsequently changed to the Numerical Aerospace Simulation Program, and more recently to the NASA Advanced Supercomputing Center, although the acronym remains “NAS.” The developers of the original NPB suite were David H. Bailey, Eric Barszcz, John Barton, David Browning, Russell Carter, LeoDagum, Rod Fatoohi, Samuel Fineberg, Paul Frederickson, Thomas Lasinski, Rob Schreiber, Horst Simon, V. Venkatakrishnan and Sisira Weeratunga.

The NAS Parallel Benchmarks 2.0

We describe a set of implementations of the NAS Parallel Benchmarks based on Fortran 77 and the MPI message passing standard. These implementations, which are intended to be run with little or no tuning, approximate the performance a typical user can expect for a portable parallel program on a distributed memory computer. They complement rather than replace the original NAS Parallel Benchmarks....

Performance and Scalability of the NAS Parallel Benchmarks in Java

Several features make Java an attractive choice for scientific applications. In order to gauge the applicability of Java to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we have implemented the NAS Parallel Benchmarks in Java. The performance and sealability of the benchmarks point out the areas where improvement in Java compiler technology and in Java thread implementation would position Java closer to ...

Preliminary Evaluation of Chapel capabilities with NAS Parallel Benchmarks

Chapel is a new high-level programming language aimed at the programmability aspect required for HPC. This document shows a preliminary comparison between the OMP implementation of several NAS Benchmarks and their corresponding versions written in Chapel.

NAS Parallel Benchmarks I/O Version 2.4

We describe a benchmark problem, based on the Block-Tridiagonal (BT) problem of the NAS Parallel Benchmarks (NPB), which is used to test the output capabilities of high-performance computing systems, especially parallel systems. We also present a source code implementation of the benchmark, called NPBIO2.4MPI, based on the MPI implementation of NPB, using a variety of ways to write the computed...

Nas Parallel Benchmark Results 10 - 94

The NAS Parallel Benchmarks have been developed at NASA Ames Research Center to study the performance of parallel supercomputers. The eight benchmark problems are speciied in a \pencil and paper" fashion. In other words, the complete details of the problem to be solved are given in a technical document, and except for a few restrictions, benchmarkers are mostly free to select the language const...
